Crab Fest

Crab Festival 2012...  We got lucky.  It didn't rain too much, and when it DID rain we put on our raingear and donned our Xtra Tuffs and braved the food booth isles, pleased to be able to visit with the loyal old-time Kodiak folks, who somehow also enjoy crab sandwiches and halibut tacos in the rain.  And ice cream.   Bella had loads of fun with her friend Maya and Grandmas.  Eilidh got to the essential-kid-moment of, "What was I thinking going on that ride?  Can I go home and sleep now?"  The girls ventured into piles of sawdust to search out quarters and dimes, marched in the crab festival parade (Bella singing and marching with the girl scouts, Eilidh passing out books with the teachers).  We laughed ourselves silly at the bed races as we watched a bunch of people dressed in sheep costumes push a bed-full of wolf down the road, leaving a trail of cottonballs in their wake.  Balika was floored again by listening to her mom (and sister!) speak at the Fisher-poets reading in Tony's bar.  Crab Festival: the start of summer break and a little piece of heaven.  Even when it rains!

I honestly don't know who enjoyed this ride more: Bella or Grandma!
