A surprise day in London after a quick morning walk in Mykonos

I had spent so much time planning the Greece trip that it escaped my attention that we had an overnight in London on the way back.  Oops.  A couple days before we were due to fly out I realized it and booked us a car and a hotel.  We've had enough difficulty with short, disappointing London layovers that leave us underwhelmed that we decided we'd just rent a cheap car and drive elsewhere. We were planning on Oxford, but it took an extra hour to make it through security, so instead we chose Windsor.  Things were pretty mellow when we got there, most of the tourist attractions closed, but we found fish 'n chips and then some swans to feed.  Hurrah!  A fun end to a a fantastic trip.

A final day in Mykonos

We had a lovely morning in Mykonos.  Sven got a solo morning photo-taking walk in the old town, came back and helped us all get packed up, and then we all went to spend a last couple of hours walking around and soaking up Mykonos.  What an amazing town!  We enjoyed a tour of a traditional windmill in the process of being restored (which would have ground grain), people watching (party central!), and dodging waves before boarding our flight to London.

From Santorini to Mykonos

We made our way from Santorini to Mykonos by ferry, which was a pleasant two and a half hour trip by high-speed ferry.  We arrived to find our cute little car waiting for us at the ferry terminal, but were warned to turn on the air conditioning while driving up the steep streets.  Eek!  The evening entailed a beautiful walk around the old town of Mykonos and a nigh swim in the hilltop infinity pool.  Gorgeous.

The taxi trip down the steep winding road from Thira to the ferry terminal was... exhilarating..
