Santorini, our humble abode in Akrotiri and a visit to Pyrgos

We were floored by Santorini.  Not only did we end up in the dreamiest of all possible hotels (Villa Maria Santorini) in the quiet little village of Akrotiri, but the hotel had basically a private pool, our view was unobstructed by anything but the sea and the sky and the crater, lizards scampered about on the walkway, and the constant and clean whites and blues were calming and peaceful.  We are in heaven.

Our home for three nights is on the south end.  We did travel to the busy towns for Fira (center) and Oia (north end of island) but we were so happy in the quiet south....

A visit to Pyrgos, the mountaintop inland town near Thira, stunned us with its quiet beauty.  Somehow the doors were the thing that kept stopping us...

An expedition to the Red Beach near Akrotiri.  Gorgeous, but we prefer our pool thank you very much!
