Weddings are such a great excuse for all sorts of things. A weekend to fully relax with family. A few chapters in a book! A walk on the beach (but not too far because of the bears). Eating Aunty Nana's chocolate amazingness. Laughing with grandma. Dancing in a tent. All is well.
Tosha Price and Peter Dunlap tied the knot on September 16th, 2012. In a virtual hurricane. 50 knot winds and sideways rain. But not a thing was dampened (but hair was certainly wind-swept). Father Paisius from Saint Innocent's Academy traveled to Old Harbor with an entourage of amazing singers to run the service (and thank goodness- as all other Orthodox priests in Alaska were busy in Anchorage voting in a new Bishop!). Peter's family traveled from California and fit right in, with their amazing attitude and appetite for adventure... And also traveling down with us were Thorsten & Jamie, two documentary film-makers working on a PBS series about Refuge Rock, the place where the Russians essentially conquered the Alutiiq people in an epic and heartbreaking slaughter. Their journey was to chronicle not so much the destruction, but the resilience and the journey...
