The robber and the flapper halloween
Since we didn't do Halloween last year really, the girls were super excited to dress up this year! (last year we were in Barcelona with the Saltonstalls for Halloween and either no one really dressed up or they dressed up regardless of what day it was.... anyway, Patrick did draw a bunch of crazy stuff on his face with eyeliner and proceeded to forget about it... by the end of the night he was getting strange looks at his streaky, smeary face).
Soooo... this year was a bit more conventional. It was amazing, sunny weather! (this is a novelty in November around here!). Eilidh really wanted to be a robber (although people kept calling her a spy) and Bella in her flapper costume kept practicing her shimmy.... We trick or treated with the Simplers, making a quick stop with the Waltenbaughs and their adorable Thomas the Train kids. Wonderful evening!

Our visit with Dan & Elizabeth

We were lucky enough to have a wonderful visit with Dan & Elizabeth (from Michigan) this fall. They were recipients of a grant to do a sabbatical of sorts related to their independent radio work. They were able to go to Old Harbor with Sven and the kids for their Alutiiq Week and they interviewed many locals in search of some story ideas. But they found a lot of time to take on local fall harvesting activities, one of our favorites being lingonberry picking on Pillar Mountain!
