From Portland to Gold Beach

Torrential rain & wind storm in Oregon during our stay. We didn't care- it made for a lovely drive and some crazy beach trips- some beautiful waves. After our day in Portland we got on the road to drive for 3 hours or so to South Beach where we'd rented a couple of yurts with the Hideg family at a camp ground near the beach. Lots of giggling in the car as we headed to the coast! The yurts were great- $40 a night, plenty of heat, the sound of rain on the roof- bathrooms right next door. We had an amazing visit with our dear friends the Hidegs, who have been great at meeting us in various spots around the world (Scotland, France, Kodiak) and it was nicer to see them closer to their home in Washington. The girls were in heaven with each other!

We forgot cups so we stole our children's cups for the vino.

So much for a walk on the beach- crazy sand storm!

Good night!

Dad, I'm holding the jellyfish!

Waiting in the rain for otter feeding time.

Look! We're jellyfish!

Almost the whole gang (where'd Mary go?!)
