A 4 year old's version of a French market

Yesterday I gave Bella- in the stroller- the camera and headed to the antique market in Cours Saleya. The resulting photos made me realize

1) no wonder kids don't have as much fun at out-door markets!
2) the things that little ones focus on are usually opposite what I do, and tend to be magpie-esque (bright and shiny- or pink, in Bella's case)
3) you need to be a little taller to enjoy the markets

Nice Markets... drooling...

I felt it time to make a special section just devoted to the markets of Nice. Amazing! The vendors display their wares with such pride and artistry. A 5 minute walk from our flat (through super windy narrow streets, so often the 5 minute walk becomes 10 as we get turned around or distracted by various sights) is the beautiful Cours Saleva market, which used to be a car park until a visionary mayor determined that the parking should be underground and that a market should be in that spot. One block over from the market is the beach! In the evening the area that is the market during the day becomes tables for the restaurants lining the square. We've gone to the market daily, picking up fruit, soap, flowers, pizza, but mostly trying not to show our drool. The girls have been responsible for all the financial transactions ("merci, madame") and have enjoyed free flowers and French clucking. I sit back and watch the show.
