We were pleasantly surprised by Zagreb. I expected another big city without a whole lot of character, but the amazing old town, perched on a hill above the modern center, was absolutely beautiful. We took a funicular to the top once, and another time we wound our way up winding, narrow streets. We went to an absolutely amazing Museum of Naive Art, walked through some great markets and enjoyed the darkening sky at the top of the old town hill where people lounged with their wine while watching a free outdoor film. Ana's brother Farris was nice enough to show us around and was a wonderful host. And we got an amazing night's sleep in their family's flat, which was much needed after Balika stayed up till 3 drinking on the beach with Ana and Naomi the night before... I was a bit grumpy until I made it into that bed.
